I replaced the piston and still get a loud top end rattle at idle and took the bike to the dealer and he says i need to get the cylinder renickasilled(sp.?) Does this sound like the next step. He says the ratlle is 2x as loud as it should be. Will this take care of it? Thanks.

have someone mesure the cylinder bore to see if it really is out of spec. You want to make sure you don't spend a few hundred bucks if you don't have to... plus diagnosing a problem by sound is not the best way to do it, and can be misleading

Plus you can inspect the plating yourself. If it is rough it may make that sound. But it could be your connecting rod bearings. Did you change those? Lots of info on the search tool about top end so get to reading.
