I am doing a top end and I am just wondering if you need to replace the gaskets if they arent messed up. also do you need to replace the bearings even if they are good. ???

It all depends. I believe Eric Gorr has said that he'll use the metal type base gaskets twice as long as they apear ok.
Sure would hate to find out i had a leak after putting it back together. :(
Which bearings are you refering to? If you are talking about the wrist pin bearing - i would change it for what it costs and you are in there already. Do not re-use the circlips! Get new ones.
While you have the cylinder head off make sure you take apart and clean your KIPS.
