They put on of those speed testers right next to my driveway today, so I decided to check the top speed of my bike. I finally hit 76 when I flew by. Just thought I'd tell everyone.:silly:

BTW, anyone with a YZ, KX, KTM, Husky, or RM know their max speed?

Last time I checked, my YZF and AF had the same top speed.
More than I can to use on a track.

I wish I knew- I've got a 360 wide ratio, and your eyes will blur when she's open, but seat of the pants tells me it's the 85-90 range. :confused:

Bswifts, craig_enids and my bike all three were doing over 90 mph two weeks ago...........OK so they were in the back of my truck.:D What a great waiste of bandwidth.

It's awesome having this speed thing right next to my driveway. I wait until theres 5 or so cars behind me, and then I take off wiith them trailing so they can see how fast I'm going.:p

I think what Okie is saying is that both bikes will go much faster than you will ever be able to go on a track.:think :eek: :confused: Top speed is of little consequence unless you are racing Baha...

Fastest I've managed to get my 650 up to has been 85mph. It was still pulling, but my pucker factor was pretty high up so I backed off. Startling how fast it got up there (even at 6,oooft elevation), and I was surprised how much power there was left over when I passed 70mph.

Yeah, top speed is pretty irrelevant, but for some reason its just kinda cool to know.

well i lifted the wheel of my kdx220 in 6th gear and it took me a good 100-150 yards to slow down to normal speed w/o breaks (long cornfield drag)

You know, it's funny. Last weekend while shaking the KX5 down for the next BITD race I was flat out in 5th gear (15/46 gearing) & I didn't think to check my speed......to much going on :p

"Ol' Flash2" will peg the speedo (85mph) plus some -w- the mostly stock dual sport gearing. (14 / 43 vs 15 / 43) But thats a little hairy on a 20 y.o. thumper.....:eek:
Things get a tad little BUZZZZZY at those speeds.
Although, at my age , things get a little buzzy at about ANY speed...:confused:

Maybe it's those MT-21's???

Dirt Tracker = No

I didn't look at the picture very closely before I opened my trap! I saw the pipe, and the 2 stroke fixation kicked in; everything else around it faded in comparison!:confused:

Got the KDX220 up to about 80-82 two weeks ago, I chased a friend in his F250, and had no problem keeping up with him till he got on a long long straigh. He said I was with him till around 80. Too bad the KDX220 doesn't scream harder, guess its time for a revpipe.

SeanATK, how does that bike handle (in the corners) compared to a road race bike like the 748 behind you? Looks like two very different lines, or is the back end stepping out. Didn't look like it. But just curious.

Some idiots tried to tell me that they clocked a 125 doin 104 out at the dessert (could that really happen??) well anyways i was on my old 82xl500 goin out to lake morena and i got it up to 112 i was following my dad on his ducati m900 (thats been up to 120) and my nabior has a R1 thats been up to 175!!:eek: ZOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM lol

It chatters and occassionally tucks the front, mid-corner, but it's so light and over-tired that it's easy to catch. The real strengths are corner entry (LATE braking) and exit (30 - 90 MPH accelleration are almost un-touchable) I do ride a different line than the REAL roadracers. I tend to square-off the corners, due to the mid-corner chatter.

Still a little curious Sean. How does the bike react while leaned over under braking, do you really have to fight it from standing up, or is it managible? Do you have to really fight riders off trying to duck inside during the corner, or does the exit speed of your bike pull you out of their attack? And finally (sorry about all the questions) is that thing a handfull in the fast sweepers?I've never seen a Super Motard / Roadracer race. But I would sure like to after seeing the pic, and hearing more about it.

It is fairly neutral under trail-braking (doesn't stand up or tuck) I normally ride around the outside of other racers (passing them in the corners) except for the 125 and 250 G.P. guys, who rail around the inside of the corners soo fast it's almost funny. My strategy is to outbrake them into the corner, square it off, then get on the gas, early and hard. In a fast sweeper, it isn't too bad, as long as I keep my weight far foreward and to the inside. (leading with my inside shoulder... looking foreward and through the turn) When/if it tucks, I can catch it with my knee and pick it back up, with only a minor headshake and a slight widening of the line. In the rain the style is slightly modified, with a more upright riding position, and a little more rear-steering.
