Total removal of power valve???

Somehow the powervalve on my RM 125 got in the way
of piston this past weekend and you know the rest of the
story. Would it be OK to totally remove the powervalve
from the cylinder to prevent this from happening in the future.
Most guys set the powervalve to be open all the time so it
doesn't seem that this should be a problem. Any input
greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What? Who? Have you ridden a bike with the power valve stuck open? It's there for a reason you know!

I don't know who these "most guys" are, but I assure you that if these jokers exist it isn't in your best interests to take advice from idiots.

If you want your bike to run poorly and have no low-end power, then by all means remove the power valve. If you want it to run like Suzuki intended, then fix it right.

when you get ready to re-assemble, you must make sure there is no possible way it can hit, take all the slop out, etc. Maybe someone else can chime in here on reasonabe clearance to take into account thermal expansion...
