Tranny Circlips

My clymers manual says that everytime the tranny is pulled apart the circlips need to be replaced? Is this true/really important? Any Comments?

I dont think that you can take them apart without bending
or breaking them so its imperative that you replace.And
why take the chance for something that doesnt cost
that much to havet to tear it apart again.
