tranny trouble?

I just bought a 99 YZ 125 and all the gears are good except second. When I shift into second it winds out a little bit then starts jerking real bad. Im guessing that the gear is missing teeth but I was wondering if there is anything I should check before I pull the motor and have to split the case?

Drain the oil and you may find pieces of the transmission in it, especially if you use a magnetic drain plug.

Ther ain't much else to check but you DO NOT want to ride at all until you get those broken teeth out of there. They can cause you having to get a new engine, especially if one of them get stuck between a gear an the inside of the crankcase that will just blow it right through the bottem of the engine like nothing. I am suprised the shifting still works. :|
