hey guys, i've always been interested in trials bikes.....looks like alot of fun. i race hare scrambles and just turned pro....and i'm looking for any way to better my skills i can. it looks like trials is the place to look. david knight and juha seem to be pretty good testaments as to trials cross training effectiveness. the problem is, i dont have the first clue about trials. i'd really like to get into a bike, however i dont have a huge amount of money to play with. i dont have any clue as to where to look for a used bike. pretty much, any useful info you guys would have for somebody looking to get into it as cheap as i can would be waaaay appreciated!

Most AMA districts have trials clubs which can be great local resources for used bikes, riding areas and people to ride with.
Here's an example in Northern Illinois : http://www.nitrotrials.com/

There are a number of good Trials dealers that can help as well. The folks at Lewisport USA are really nice people and will go the extra mile to help someone new to the sport.

Plus there are a number of trials riders here on DRN that will always help out.

Check out http://www.trialstrainingcenter.com/ which is "just next door" to you in Tennessee. Other places to look for bikes: http://www.rypusa.com/ is a Sherco importer, and you will find links to all local dealers. http://www.usmontesa.com/ is a Montesa importer, and also has links to all local dealers.
Here is a ton of trials links: http://www.triallinks.com/

There is also an MCtrials mailing list here:

and a lively forum here: http://www.trialscentral.com/
