Have had a TTR 225 for 4 months now. I like the way the bike rides and handles. Many say its too heavy but that hasnt been a problem for me. My problem so far is there is NO aftermarket stuff for it and factory is VERY expensive! I may consider selling it before something breaks! Does anyone know if there are mods out there for this bike? I would like to upgrade the suspension.

well as far as mods go their are very few for the 225. I have looked many time for some but about the only think i have found is mufflers and a high flow air filter. I haven't seen anything for the suspension yet but maybe in a few months thier might be something for it. At chirstmas which is when i got mine thier wasn't anything for this bike. Now thier are a few differnt mufflers a few differnt air filters, and a few other parts. I would say in time they will have more things for this bike but like it said it will probably take some time. It's a great bike but i wouldn't sell it just because thier aren't many mods for it. Also i thought the suspension was to soft for me to but i changed fork oil and added 2 more onces to what was in it before. I have also had to tighten up the back shock adjuster a few times but i finally got it where i like it. Well i hope i helped.

well u can't really adjust it like it is for the back but it is doing that somewhat. I would also suggest to change the fork oil and flush out the forks and get them good and clean because the stuff they have in thier isn't very good. I think i put 15wt oil in first which hel out a little. Then i added a little at a time to get it how i liked it. I think i ended up adding 2 or 3 more onces of oil to the forks this helped alot with the bottoming problems i was having. If i remember correctly thier are 10 onces of oil in each fork so be sure to added that much back if not more. Really the only complaint i have about this bike is the high cost of orignal parts from yamaha. I have found a few places cheaper than dealers though so that has saved me lots of cash. Well if u need anymore help with ur bike just ask me and if i don't know what to tell u i'm sure i could find someone that does.

bikes are kind of like computers... before you buy one, ask yourself what you will be using it for and if your riding situation changes, will the bike change with it?? If you want ultimate customization capabilities, dont buy a bike that no one makes parts for, just like you wouldnt buy an IBM computer with proprietary hardware. Just look at some aftermarket companies, and look for a trend, what bikes do all of them make parts for? EVERYONE makes parts for a CR 250, not so with an XR 200. Not to rag on your bike, my wife has one, but I wish I would have spent the extra $$ at the dealer when new for a "for sale" sign for it. :)

Yes you are right! I havnt ridden in many years and I had no idea it would be like this. Gotta learn the lessons the hard way I guess. Its not a bad bike. If I keep it I will still be able to enjoy myself. Also I realized the bike has only been made for a couple years so eventually aftermarket stuff will emerge I am sure.
