The USA team is one step closer to the second round. Last nights draw with korea puts the USA in a great position to make it to the second round.

South Africa also is looking good, and won their first world cup match this week. A draw in the final game will see them through.

:)

You may go back to your 'world championship basketball' series now :ugg:

At least you spelled "futbol" right, Bundu! We can't be confusing it with the sport associated with the legendary Vince Lombardi! :D

As for the punkin' pushers (AKA basketball), I thought the season was over months ago . . .

Violence erupted in Moscow on Sunday night after Japan's first victory in a World Cup kept Russia from clinching an early second-round place. The death toll rose to two Monday, and officials said 73 people were injured. Police said 8,000 fans were involved in the riot and some 113 people were detained.

Japan's celebrations over the 1-0 victory ranged from nearly 140 fans diving into a canal in the western city of Osaka to mild exuberance in Parliament.

Man, we need to pump some enthusiasim into this American crowd.

It was over when the Lakers beat Sacramento. Unless, of course, Shaq takes a nasty spill on his West Coast custom chopper between now and game 4... highly unlikely though.

Also, aren't they still in the last 30 seconds of last night's game? I think the Lakers still have 15 time-outs, while the Nets have 17. :debil:
