zio, so a weekend in Reno isn't something special? Strick took the words right out of my mouth. Valentine's day is just one day. Is there some reason you can't spend Friday together doing something "special" and the rest of the time riding. Sounds like a win win to me.

I've been instructed by Firelily sign us up in case someone is keeping count. She's a making me get a two room suite with a SPA! I guess that's cheaper than having a shopping queen in Reno.
Is there a map to the Dead sheep?

I'll try, but that's likely to land me on the couch for a day or two "Hey sweetie, how about we spend Valentines Day gambling! And since we'll be in Reno, whatsay I throw my bike in the back of the truck & ride Saturday & Sunday? You can hang out in the hotel bar. They give free peanuts!"

Really, I'll give it a shot (and sell it better than above). But I just don't think she'll be amused.

In all seriousness, does Zia have any desire to try riding? I would think Reno would be a great opportunity for someone to learn to ride - nice terrain & lots of friendly folks that are probably more than willing to let her try various bikes. I'll be the first to offer her a KX500 or XR250 to try.

Good luck & I hope to see both of you in Reno,

Brian

KX500! That will get her hooked. Just think how much fun it would be for her just to start the beast. Or better yet how much fun we would have watching her pummel Zio into the desert floor after she almost kills herself on the 500.

I want a front row seat.

Excuse me? Who was that gave a credit card number to the hotel last night???
In this case I can go to the motorcycle shop in Reno that Strick told us about and buy all the cool stuff  for my bike by your credit card, right!?!?
How's that? :yeehaw:

zio, I tried several bikes at last Reno Ride. And I bought KDX220R right after that. She is welcome to try mine......it's powerful now, but probably a better bike for her than KX500!! ;)

How bad could it be? I was so impressed watching GSR gracefully handle that 250F 2 years ago that I figure a KX500 should be a great beginners bike. It's only a matter of how far you twist the throttle, right?

I wonder if having a SO that isn't into dirtbikes is anything like having a SO that isn't into football. If that's the case I guess I can kind of understand.
I tried to do the "good girlfriend" thing and go to a fantasy football draft thingy once. I sat there the whole time wishing I had a fork to jam in my eye!!
Good luck zio. Maybe she'd be down for it if you reserved the Safari Adventure Suite, http://www.peppermillreno.com/roomssuites/safari.html ;)
I swear one of these years I'm gonna get that room! :)

How far our from the Peppermill/Reno is the ride? What direction? How many days will this event span? Any legal issues or restrictions? Why is there air? :)
Thanks Russ.

About a 20 minute drive.
What direction?
If I remember correctly it's northeast.

Riding Thursday to Sunday. Saturday will be the biggie.
Any legal issues or restrictions?
Nope. This is Nevada, anything goes!
Why is there air?
You ever ride on a flat tire?

1 more?

Im coming in Friday afternoon. Will I be able to drop off my bike between a certain time or is it only available before and after a ride?

I guess the details will be posted before the ride.

What kind of weather should I expect? I was talking to my boss at work and he said I might want to bring some chains. Im coming from So Cal. up the 395.

Thanks in advance for the storage. :thumb:

Yea, carry chains just to be safe. I will be riding Friday, but as the time draws near I will coordinate with everyone regarding storage. I (will) have 2 garages (5car total), and a huge fenced (and locked yard), so even early non supervised drop off is going to be possible.

I don't think you will able to get away with shorts this time Jeff. It will be cold. There was some light snow on the hilltops at moonrocks, melted by noon.

You should check with the CHP for road condition and chain requirements before heading out. BTW I have a set of snowchains that have never been used and don't fit my tire size. If they fit yours you can have them. I'll check to see what tire size they fit.
