I have been riding for the past three years, Im 17, and I am going to give racing motocross a try. The first race at the local track is in a month and I plan on entering it. What advice can you give me to prepare me for what is ahead. Any tips for race day would be appreciated.

Race Day - get there early. Don't be afraid to ask questions if you're not sure about something. Hopefully find an experienced rider to walk the track with you.
Find out when your practice is, and when your moto's are scheduled.
Relax, and have fun.

Read up on and practice starts. Often times people do not do this and are intimidated and baffled the first race.

Find out ahead of time what the start looks like and practice.

Don't get too worked up about trying to do great and win your first one. Think of it as a chance to ride a nicely prepped track with medical help nearby. :)

Ask around, even here, to see if any experienced riders are going to that race. Most riders are more than happy to show you around and point out what to look for.

If you're 17, you'll probably need one of your parents to go with you to sign the releases.
