CJ & hubby have gone away to look at the rest of New Zealand. It's been a busy/interesting few days.
In a way it was a comedy of errors, but none of us got hurt and that's what matters.
It started Friday night with Henk putting 2 lots of oil in my gas (we run different mixtures in all the bikes), which meant there was no oil in the gas for the KTM CJ's husband was riding on the weekend.
Saturday morning I phoned to check what time the flight was, found out it was delayed so could help Henk pack the van & bikes (we were meeting him at the forest). I checked back a bit later and was told the plane had arrived 25 minutes earlier, meaning I was going to be 45 minutes late. Got to the airport & after looking around asked what time the flight had got in (it wasn't on the board). It had just arrived, the answerphone message had been wrong. So I waited around by the arrivals until people fitting their description turned up - I'd seen the photos but CJ had emailed me to say she'd cut her hair and I figured it was real short - it wasn't. Very easy to recognise, so at least I didn't have to go up to total strangers to ask if they were CJ & hubby (I've had to in the past and get all sorts of wierd looks hehehe).
I'd promised Henk we'd get breakfast, but by the time we were heading to the forest it was almost lunch, so didn't bother stopping.
The clutch plates on my trials bike had bonded together, so a quick ride sorted that out (thankfully). CJ & I went riding after the guys had gone, and as we came to a clearing there's Will playing golf. Yes, the KTM had seized, but we didn't figure out why initially and thought it was the bottom end gone toast (it needed a rebuild but we didn't have time before they arrived, so were hoping for the best).
CJ liked the KDX, and loooooooved the TM250 - she can fill in the details when she gets home ;) The thing that she couldn't get over was the power difference riding at sea level and thought the KDX was as powerful as the KTM200's (I still haven't tried one, but guess at sea level it will have heaps more power). At least she didn't hurt herself on the TM, the lever was easy to fix hehehehe. Will & Henk spent the day swapping between the Fantic & the TM (mainly Henk on the TM).
Sunday we were going to do a farmland ride, but I didn't think the Fantic would cope due to overheating, so after many discussions we decided that Henk & Will would ride and CJ & I would watch. It was fun as driving down the road we could stop & watch everyone going up hills & spot them for miles. (about 300 riders). We all had lunch together and I'd been hoping we could go to the beach to watch, but access wasn't available, so we headed up a hill and had a great view. Half the guys had to show off for the camera, so I hope Jen's pix turn out. It was a good day, my bike spooged so incredibly much, which gave it away as to why the 360 had seized lol. We only just made the ride in time as breakfast took so long to turn up - eaten on the way out there.
Monday Jen, Will & I went to a beach, bike shop, information centre about the forest area/Auckland and had fun, also doing some shopping along the way.
All in all it was a good weekend, they left this morning, so I had to wash the bikes, but ended up running around getting oil & boring stuff as well.
So, sorry, but you'll have to wait a couple of weeks till Jen can give you a full report, we were just too busy.
Oh, Saturday night they went to sleep & we were meant to go out, but never made it. We got home from a walk (Henk & I), to see a cat lying in the middle of the road and a car stopped. Henk went over to see if it was one of ours, then when I followed, I said yes it was. We picked the cat up, grabbed the spade, dug the hole, buried the cat and Henk looked inside to see our "dead" cat sitting there cleaning himself. So we don't know who we buried, but are glad it wasn't Dude.
Hope everyone else had fun
