Pending approval Wednesday, 10-05-05, for my Company License, I WAS intending to tender my resignation with my current employer. I have been working quietly getting all of the necessary arrangements made, insurance, bond, incorporating, bank accounts, etc. Well, this afternoon, my supervisor invited me into his office for a "closed door" discussion. I was certain he had NO idea that I was planning to leave and he didn't.
He began by informing me of an upcoming project that he wanted me to run and attend school to be certified in the system. It was necessary, however, that I aggree to "stay" with the company in order to get approval from the owner for the training.
So, I had to think quickly but fortunately, I had already prepared my resignation letter. I graciously declined the project.....hesitated.....then proceeded to give verbal resignation. I thought he crapped his spine and his chin is bruised from hitting the floor. My words to him were virtually verbatum from my letter. I assured him that I had done all of this on my own time and that no employee or customer was aware of my upcoming transition. He aggreed that it would be best to keep it quiet and allow me to work for the ten days notice I was giving. This would exclude, my vacation days for DW05. He even commented that there was likely zero chance that my license would be denied.
