i have a friend about your size and does absolutely fine on his yamaha yz 125. If i where you i would go for any 125 that is year 95 and up and which is ever cheapest.

Look for a ttr125, xr100 or similar. They are good beginner trail bikes. The yz will be very difficult to learn on, more expensive to buy and much harder to take in the trails for someone your size. You should be at least 5'10" to trail ride an unmodified full size mx bike.

The only one in your 1000 dollar price would be the xr100. Possibly an older ttr125. The crf150 is a newer model, so they are fairly pricey still.

Don't get a 125. just skip that stage. The Xr 100 is a great choice or maybe even a XR 200. Now that I think about it the 200 would be great for you. Super easy to learn on but you might be tippy-toeing a little bit. that bike will last you till you at least 5' 8". but be sure to sit on it before you buy. It s been a while since i was that size.

drz125 and rm125 are completely different animals...
The Rm125 is a race bike, and it's frame would be pretty big for you. I'm an inch shorter than you but I weigh more and have 10 years of riding experience and I still find a 125mx bike a pain in the ass in some of the gnarly trails.
Drz125's are really fun, and easy to learn on. I'd go with that, get the drz125L if possible... the bigger wheels are nice.

yea if you are looking on a dealer website anything labeled motocross or MX is going to be too powerful. an 85 might be ok but they are a pain in the woods without some mods. they have no bottom end.

I currently ride a DRZ-125L and it was very easy to learn on... I am 5"2 maybe 5"3 and weigh alot more than you. I am getting a bigger bike but i have been riding for a few years now. A full size bike would not be to easy to learn on, Especially on trails. But i also think the 125 is too small for you, i can touch flat foot on both sides but it does make a great beginner bike.
