Not that probably anybody cares, but Mike Metzger stated that he was going to race an RM125 in the 2002 SX. I haven't seen it or heard in the West, and nothing in the East either...
Did he get injured or just decided to bail out? Any input?

He was at the first Anahiem, and he cased it and crashed ( or just cased it really hard) in either practice or the preliminary heats. I know he got hurt, and it was either his wrist, elbow, or knocked some teeth out, or a combination of all three. I was intrested to see how he was going to do as well, and I heard he was going to still race the other west coast races, but I have been to all of them and haven't seen or heard about him. I'll see what I can dig up and let you know for sure.

OK, this is 100% accurate I promise :debil: , seriously though, he cased one of the big triples in practice and crunched 8 :scream: of his teeth including all 4 molers, which I don't have a clue how you could do that but, he now has 8 new GOLD teeth to replace all the broken ones.

Man, that sounds nasty....I guess that would definately put a "hold" on any returns. I was interested in seeing how he would do as well, since most people jump out of racing to freestyle, but not vise versa. Thanks for the update, with something of that nature, you would have thought that would have made a headline in a magazine or on line to say the least.

Metz likes to fly under the radar for the most part, but I'm sure there will be something on it sooner or later.

Metz does have some serious SX skills. Last year he raced a few rounds of the Aussie SX series and had mostly top 10 finishes, and I think he may have even had one or two podiums against some pretty tough competition.

There was a picture of Metz in the pits on RonRon's site from the opener. I hope he sticks with it. He is a good rider. When he hung up his racing gear after he got a Dunlop burn across his back at a national, he had national #65, I think.

Thanks for the info, folks. I have also been wondering what the story was on him.

Did not hear about any injuries. Its prolly because he is a weenie and a slacker and can't hack real racing.

Maybe it's a comment from the reality gallery! Metz rides on a level above most normal mortals... but he's quite a few rungs below our current contenders!

Just calling it the way I see it. I was a Metz fan when he first came into the pro ranks. He had some bad luck with injuries and things did not seem to happen for him. He seemed to undergo a change in attitude and made some comments in print that led me to have the opinion I do about him. He is a good rider but one of MXs great underachievers. They credit him for being one of the fathers of freestyle if that means anything to you but as a championship level MX rider he falls short because of attitude. NOT a comment from the peanut gallery but my opinion :think and we all have those don't we:D
