I'm look ing for a first bike that will keep up with a yz80, cr125, and a ke175. I have a honda recon quad and can keep up with a yz80 in the trails. my budget is around $1000. I am 5'7"and 145lbs.

Not sure exactly what to tell you. This thread will either be moved or deleted shortly. No offence, there is a forum specifically for this type of question. Look around a bit more and read the FAQ's.

OK, your weight is 145 and your 5'7" and your skill lever on a motorcycle probably is around beginner because you just came off a Recon(IMO quads don't require or give much expirience). Now there's a bit of a difference between a CR125, a YZ80, and a KE175. I'm guesing these are your friends bikes and you want to keep up w/ them or beat them. Welcome to the world of dirt bikes where its not all just sheer speed. What kind of terrain are you riding?

Well, its hard to give advise for the bike you want without much info.

What kind of riding are you going to be doing? I ride a KX 125, and also have an XR 80, and when I go trail riding, I bring the XR 80 out and can keep up with all the 2-stroke 125s that come riding with us, since we ride tight and technical trails. Owning a 125, I will tell you that if you are mainly trail riding and riding in tight areas, a 125 is hard to handle.

I agree that even though you ride a quad, you will still probably have the same learning to do as anyone would. But you will have a jump start on the basic way to control a vehicle and such.

Maybe a KDX 200 would be good for you.

You guys gave him enough time to answer the questions.

He can now go back and re-read the rules (1st post posted in this forum).
