what paint can i use to paint airfilter box?

hey guys i have a yz125 with a white air filter box, i want to make it black so is basic black gloss spray paint ok?

Nothing will stick well enough to last more than 5 minutes into the first ride... you should look into stickers made to cover it.

There is a paint called Fuzion Fusion...something like that, that is made specifically for painting plastic lawn furniture and stuff. You can get it at Pep Boys and Auto Zone. I have had great luck with it on fenders and other low rub areas. It doesn't withstand the knee braces on the shrouds, but should work well on an airbox. Basic gloss black will flake off pretty quick. Follow the directions and make sure the airbox is as clean as possible before painting.

I use black numberplate background on mine and you might want to use that on the sides while painting the rest.

All of it but the sides Mr Okiewan, which is where I would recommend the black numberplate background. :) Although, it would be interesting to see how well the paint would hold up above the mud flap.

I think the radiator shrouds would hold up pretty good with this paint if it weren't for the knee braces. Those things eat through vinyl also.

Isn't there a dye available for plastic, I think I remember a post awhile back.?

Krylon Fusion sucks for dirtbike uses. Period. If you can find a dye, is will be more effective. If you must paint, cover is with a clear plastic when it dries, or get ready to do it again in a couple of weeks.

Notice where the boot has rubbed through the paint on the number plates, this is right about where the airbox is located on big bikes. The scratches are a little harder to see because of the dirt, but I assure you that they are there.

nothing will stick on plastic for a long time mabie latex paint but i highly dought it
