What size grit is used for restoring plastics in the plastic renew kit? I know there is a more coarse sand paper first, and then a finer wet paper I think. Does anyone know? I just want to remove the deeper scratches before applying the Mop'n Glo.
Thanks!

you can use any grit to start with, but you need to finish with something like 400#. If you start with #80, then it's going to take you a while to get the "sctatches" out that the paper will leave. I recomend #150. The renew kit also has steel whool that you're supposed to buff the plastics with after it dries. I assume it's the same for the mop& glow.

Actually The Mop'n Glo is an acrylic so it is not workable and is the very last step. You cannot use steel wool afterwards. The best way I have found to apply the Mop'n Glo is with a empty bottle of hair spray. Spray like paint but VERY generously. Don't worry to spray too much. Leave the excess drip and leave it dry for a day. Don't worry, you won't have any drip marks. It is so liquid that it finishes mirror like every times. I've heard many mechanics from top numbers here in Canada using that. They also told me that Mcgrath's previous mechanic Randy Lawrence used that also. You gain at least 30 miles / hour with that:silly:

now you've done it, my wife caught me emptying her hair spray for the bottle, and boy ma I in trouble:) . Thanks for the tip. I like to keep my bike as clean as possible. We've been using tire foam on our bikes after we clean them. It not only makes them glisten (wow- shiny), but conditions the plastic, and when you wash your bike after you ride the ditr washes away very easialy. My bike is a "99 and looks brand new. I can't wait to try the mop-n-glow.
oh yea- I've never seen hair spray in a pump bottle here in the states, guess we're cfc crazy.:)
also how do you ride w/ no hands:)

I started out with a #220,then a #320, then to a #400 and then buffed with a 0000 steelwool ,came out looking good.

Make sure you use wet/dry paper
