I have gotten conflicting claims about whether my ktm is a 96 or a 97. Here's what I know:

It was made in Jan of 97 and KTM said the VIN # indicates that it is a 97
Its light orange
It has inverted, gold, LEM fron forks with a concave triple clamp. I was told that at that time, KTM was having its bikes made from LEM and selling them under their own badge. It wasn't until sometime in 97 that they started making their own bikes.
The rear fender is a seperate peice from the side marker plates and the air box. Apearantly, in 97 the Pro JR sold everything as one solid peice.
The front fender and number plate from the 97 pro jr (whcih is what the VIN stated) do not fit and there are suttle differences between my bike and other 97s.

If you have any information, or own any of these bikes, please tell me what you know. Its tough enough getting parts for these bikes. Not knowing the year makes it impossible.

Thanks

Thank you. Do you know what the model name is? Is it a 96 sx50? Why would the Vin and KTM state that it was a 97?
