I try to purchase Cornwell tools any chance I get. They are sponsoring a lot of big off-road racers...Ty Davis, Fred Andrews, and many more.

I must say i love Craftsman tools. I buy all mine from Sears. Anything breaks or goes wrong i can just bring them back to the store and they replace it for me right on the spot w/ brand new tools! ITS GREAT!

My dad has had some of his Craftsman tools for over 20 years. So, I also use Craftsman tools. I just like the sturdy feel they have.

I use blackhawk and crafstman. The blackhawk are VERY good and garanteed, but hard to find and replace when broken, and then the craftsman are a bit(well alot) weaker and garanteed too.
BTW, when I really feel like splurging or need a very special tool, I buy from the good ol' snap on truck. Last tool I got from them was a 22 dollar socket! The impact wrench prices boggled me!

I usually buy Craftsman, because of the selection and guarantee. I took an old rusted up 15" adjustable wrench back to them last week. It was frozen up and they replaced it with a new one, no questions asked. I was almost embarrased to return it, because it was so rusted up.

Another vote for Craftsman

They make a tool called a "Cotter Key Extractor" that I can't live without. Buy one--you won't regret it. Handiest tool I've ever owned. I like their $20 quarter-inch drive ratchet/socket sets too. SUCH A DEAL!

I can't see the logic in paying 300% more so I can send the Snap-On guy's kid to college. :think Their tools may be good, but they ain't THAT good.

For specialty tools, I'm hooked on Kowa. I splurged last Christmas and bought their digital tachometer. This thing is about the size of a credit card and is inductive. You just clip it to the spark plug lead, select the proper range, and you have your RPM's. It works on everything from a single cylinder 2-stroke to a V-8.

Personal handtools: Craftsman
Personal precision tools: Starret
Loaner tools: Anything from china or Taiwan
Torque wrenches: Although a little clumbsy to use, I trust the long Craftsman static bar. They make a trusty clicker too.

Most of my stuff is Craftsman, but I'll go to these tool sales and pick up a set of 'Merican or Metric wrenches for 20 bucks, just because I won't be afraid to lose or loan them out. Also, any tool I find alongside the road (used to find lots while out grading) pays for itself the first time I use it!

Heck, if it's down at the ol' Wal-Mart, it's cheap, and I think I might need it, I'll probably buy it. I have a lot of "disposable" tools, ifyouknowwhatImean.:D

Craftsman here, too. For personal use, they're just hard to beat with the availability and warranty. The snap on truck never seems to come to my house, either. :)

AAMOF, I'm going to Sears at lunch to pick up some tools. I've had my eye on the open end/box end wrenches that have a ratchet in the box end. I've been holding off waiting for Sears to offer some. They have a trick set now that has a reversable ratchet in the box end. Each wrench has a little flip switch like a socket wrench. Very cool. They're on sale but still a little of pricey at $71 for 7 wrenches.

Another thumbs up for Craftsman handtools, except I never buy their power tools.

Craftsman

I like the Craftsman because I can always find Sears and I can always get them replaced. As far as the others, how good is the Snap-on, Cornwell, etc. when the tool breaks at 6pm on Friday? Sears is still open :D

Here's another vote for Craftsman. Though, the ratchet handles that I bought four years ago, are a little sloppy feeling when compared to the "old" Craftsman ratchets I inherited from my father, dating back to 1971. I've heard great things about Facom tools (from France?) apparently they are the only tools that Ferrari Corse will touch. I also know that Kowa tools are used by MANY of the WSBK and FIM Moto G.P. teams.

I picked up a set of Husky tools last april. My dad had Husky tools from the 60's in his tool box. I did some lookin into Husky. They are made by Stanley Tool Works same as the older Craftsman. If you start to look Craftsman are going overseas for tool makers as Stanley and Craftsman stopped doing 100% of the Hand tool business for Craftsman.
The last time I turned in a Craftsman socket the clerk Wanted me to take the Sears socket...what a crock. I got my money back...like it says over their door. as far as torque wrenches go look at the variance the maker says the tool can vary.

A friend bought some FACOM wrench sets from some guy on E-bay. They are indeed lovely pieces. FACOM and USAG are the world's premier tool manufacturers (and I can't afford either). Check out Griot's Garage for specs on USAG and FACOM.

i use mostly craftsman too. not because i think that they're the best but because of convenience. i try to buy at least one tool every time i go into sears. after about 15 years of doing that, i have a pretty good tool collection.

it's about time to replace my old compressor. i may have to make a trip to sears soon.:)

I have a nice mix of snap-on, mac, and craftsman. Snap-on and mac are from my wrenching days in college but they are too rich for my blood now that they don't make me any money.

Unless your building Ferraris or saying MotoGP theres no need for a tool better then a Craftsman. Lifetime Guaranteed, why would you spend more money on a tool if you can buy one set of cheap tools and never buy another set again in your entire life. Barring a nuclear disaster and the fallout destroys your local sears.
