I own a 200 and my brother just bought a 250. Besides cc's what is the primary difference in the two bikes, I havent seen his yet but he said it seems larger.
BTW does anyone have a used chest protector and knee guards they would sell? (just had to throw that in)

Thanks

basically 50cc (not exactly), perimeter frame on the KDX250, WR 5 sp, Inverted 43mm Forks on the KDX250, and it is a larger bike. yours is what is commonly called a 7/8ths size bike. The KDX250 for 91-94 is based off the 90-91 KX250 bikes.

Power wise, the 250 will have a lot more low end torque. Then depending on the mods to the motor will determine how much mid and top pull there is. They are a bigger bike, but with a few hours of tuning and some money in the motor and suspension they are a killer bike.

You can see some pics of my modified kdx250 here:

Matt, I really like your bike. I saw a 250 and considered chopping my 200 in but we've been together now for 3 years so I just couldn't

The usual reason - slow sales. The magazines did not like the bike and told the world the 200 was better and cheaper. The 250 got very poor reviews due to the wide tank, poor seating position, etc..

Like the 200, from the factory the 250 was poorly jetted and needed some help in the fork department. The extra weight and slow steering did not endear the bike to hardcore racers.

With some minor tuning and preperation, the 250 can be made much better than stock. After dialing it in, I preferred mine to my 200's for most trails.

I agree...........I had a 93 kdx 250 and a bud had the 92 250.
I have rode for 25 years and thought they were sweet. ANother friend had the 93 200. Very weak compared to the 250's. I guess the critics were to weak to handle the power. I should add in those 25 years I have had 12 bikes. So I think I should be a pretty good judge.
