I want to run the best pump gas possible in my bike, and there are only 3 stations to choose from in my area. Shell, Chevron, and Exxon. All 3 station's premium is 91 octane. Are any of these stations superior to the others, or is the gas all the same?

It's all the same at the pump.

Thanks for the feedback. Rich, I know you are the go-to guy on gas! Is 91 octane enough for a stock 250 2 stroke that is run fairly hard or should I be mixing in some race gas?

I have no idea if your bike needs more than 91 octane. Look at the plug, the piston crown, and the cylinder head for signs of abnormal combustion. The engine will tell you what it needs.

Thanks everyone, I'll check out that link. Oh, I haven't pulled the top end apart yet. It's still pretty fresh with about 10 hours. The plug looks good. Jetting is slightly rich.

actually, you should choose a gas station with an individual hose for each octane. Otherwise you buy 1 hose volume (from the switch to the nozzle)worth of whatever the last guy pumped.

Pick the busiest, and the one with the newest tanks. The new pumps pull vapors and fuel back in, do not stick the end of the pump in the fuel, or use it wfo! Pick one and stick with it. Any signs of detonation and race gas is in order. Around me, shell and speedway carry high octane, but it comes out of the ground. Thankfully, the torco dealer is not far. And access to firepower is even better! Some bike shops carry vp.

Here in Missouri 93 octane is available. Perhaps I'm overly simple, but to me, fresh fuel is almost equally (if not more) important than a couple octane points. My RM250 is fussy about good fuel. We live fairly close to a very wealthy neighborhood... I go to their stations to buy premium gas because there's a lot of Hummers, Mercedes, Jags, etc. I figure their underground storage tanks see good turnover. And so far it's held true.
