I think just the 00-01 years had the white airbox. Maybe check into the 99 or 02, if they are the same airbox design/shape, just a different color. Or else, how about a black or CF airbox sticker?
Just remove airbox, clean very well to remove all grime, oil and residue. Then clean it again, Paint with rustoleum black plastic paint, 2 to 3 light coats will do. Looks great, holds up great. Just be sure to cover the sides of the airbox with clear or precut airbox stickers where boots contact or you will be seeing white very soon.
I did this to my 01 yz250 in 02 when black airboxes came out and it still looks great.
way cheaper than a whole airbox or a new bike. I bought an 02 airbox black and it did not fit my 01. subframe clearance issues if i remember right.
I have been trying to get the airbox out, but it seems that it won't clear the frame. Is there any trick to it, and what are the creases (cracks) in the airbox that are riveted on?
