I miss you!:(

About the time I realized I had misspelled you name I saw one of your posts. I was just curious because I used to see you all over the place here & it seems I never see your name anymore. I thought your computer finally died or something.

Hope you all are doing well. Is it summer down there yet?

She doesn't post as often anymore because of computer issues. Aparently she still has one of those models that takes up an entire room and only runs properly when the little sheep stay on the conveyer belt. What did you think they had all those sheep in NZ for? :p

I was bummed to hear she would not be able to participate on DRN as frequently as in the past because of the pains with her computer. I'm working on getting in touch with Billy G to send her a new one though. ;)

Hi all :) Ya, I'm still here, the computer problems are almost a thing of the past thanks to Singletracker suggesting I try Opera (not the music either lol). Henk's probably going to buy me a new computer for Christmas or at least upgrade this ol' dunger as he feels guilty about what he's getting from me.

Jeff, I've been following your race reports & have wondered if Tigger races too or if she just watches?

Actually, I've been really busy with helping run bike club events (and riding) and am looking forward to Sunday being over as that's our last event for the year & we'll have more time to ride - wahoo!! We've been wanting to hit other peoples' events, but things haven't worked out for us this year - anyone know how long it takes to cut new trails, taking out stumps & chopping off branches for the little ones (and the big ones for around jumps lol), and removing all the leftover crap after the forestry workers have been through? Tell you what though, it's great fun riding the trails to test them (yes, we do really enjoy doing the menial work too)

As for NZ weather, all I can say is Auckland weather sux, it's getting really wierd - lots of rain, wind & stinking hot days.

So has Gomer been over here & not told me? I wondered where all the sheep were, heck, I wondered where all the people were going & why they didn't speak - the horrified look on their faces should have told me I guess ;)

Ah Kiwi, but that's not Auckland - Wellington is known for its wind, Auckland is known for its wind & rain, why anyone wants to live here, I've yet to work out ;). I know we've had some beautiful weather, but the last couple of weeks it's sucked. Today it rained all day, and marking trails in the rain means for cold, wet people heading home, and miserable breaks. Still way better than being stuck at work (ah, but what isn't lol).
What is this swim thing you mention? If you mean at a beach, why? That's where you go to ride the bike. lol

Yes ANYTHING and ANYWHERE is better than where i work. But hey it pays the bills, and for the racing, 5 out of 6 weeknds takes it toll. When i said Brilant weather in the bay, i meant Hawkes Bay, thats where i am, SO much better than wellington. The swimming is in a pool at our place, if only it ws deeper id be jumping off the grage roof. Its raining off and on here, but thats ok, myabe race tomorrow without any dust for once.

Michelle & Kiwi_925

Are you familiar with this magazine?

New Zealand Motorcycle Marketplace Magazine
575 Waitarere Beach Road, Levin, New Zealand
Phone NZ-6-368-8945 or 025-85-33-55.
www.motorcyclemarketplace.co.nz

Steve Green is the editor and he contacted me about running a story on motorcycle hillclimbing so I sent him a bunch of negatives.

He just wrote back the other day and said that he will be using some of the pictures I took and he will send me a copy of the magazine when it is published.

Yes i know the one, we get 3 copys every issue, my old man send most of the trials photos into him(nationals, and North island champs - some rounds not all), my older bro went to the trials des nations with the nz team, and he's in there twice, and same with kiwi rider, but the pictures are so samll u have to the the actual photos to know that, as i have seen my older brothers photos from when he went. Also the hillclimbing they had over in france sounded awesome, at ngiht under lights, they were having there funcation after the event and then they heard them fire up the engines and then the lights and them riding up the hill.

I only buy it occasionally, but look through their website often (more bikes for sale than anything else), as it lists trials events on & seems to have more trials bikes for sale than any of the others. It's like none of your magazines that we get here, probably more like a newspaper trading place than anything else.
Kiwi, when you get the mag, let me know which issue & I'll buy a copy to read. Ken, if you want spare copies, give me a yell & I'll ship extras over if you want.

Kiwi, I know you're no longer in Wellington, and I frequently talk to people in Hastings (we've got an office there). Whenever they take too long to answer the phone, we joke that they're off at the beach & then look out at our rain lol ;)

Thanks for the response

He sent me an older copy and it mostly classifieds, like the former magazine called "Old Bike Journal", there are a bunch of good deals on bikes / spares in it.
To bad shipping would be so expensive.

KWLams have u looked into exchange rate lately?? It cant be all that expensive for you.
Michelle this place is a bit too relaxed, but its good, you get used to it quick  My friends dad takes a day off if the surf is 'going' to be good the next day, and they pay him to look after the dangrous people in our communities.... but it is a lifestyle choice thats for sure, plus ALOT more racing than i ever did down Wellignton, been racing the last 5 out of 7 weekends, only missed this weekend gone because of the rain - worst ever, but they're having it this weekend so its sweet as.

KWJams- I dunno. A Kiwi Indian Scout may be too big to hide in a suitecase. Hey I was wondering where you ride in Wyoming? I have a friend in Cheyenne that keeps wanting us to come up to camp out and ride up there, but we never have figured out where would be a good place.

Gee,

I could of asked for a Kiwi Indian Chief ;)

I live in S.W. Wyoming and we have hundreds of miles of wide open BLM land where we ride. No designated areas or tracks close by. :( mostly we ride in the Badlands.
Over by Rock Springs and Flaming Gorge there are some great places also.

Ken, finally got the magazine yesterday. I thought pretty much everyone sold it until I went to look for it. I somehow doubt the pictures show what a killer that hill must be.
Does Dusty run spikes in all the paddles or just some? I guess if we ever come to the States, we'll have to watch a hill climb ;)

Thanks for the report Michelle

It is really hard to get a picture that shows how steep a hill really is, that centerfold picture looks like he is on flat ground because of the angle I snapped it from.

Dusty is riding with his bike set up for the Pro Altered Exhibition class which is restricted. Open Exhibition allows the use of steel bolts and paddles.

<<--HERE-->> is an article from Offroad.com, check out the photo gallery, there are some close up pictures of bolted tires.

Steel Paddle <<--HERE-->>

You mean they don't have hillclimbs in NZ?[
