Im looking on ebag for some KX forks and yokes, but which ones are best to get.125 or 250.I want to fit them and ride without having to re-spring and re-valve.My thinking is the newer the better but I could be wrong.Im riding Hare and hounds on a 90 200.

I've got a pair of 96 KX125 forks on my 89. Not sure if the valving is stock but the stock spring rate (0.38kg) was right on for my weight (175lbs). Much better than my stockers ever could dream of being. Newer is generally better but don't forget to figure on the cost of new seals, bushings and oil if the forks need them.

250's are typically sprung and valved stiffer than the 125's. What is your riding weight? I am not familiar with pre-95 swaps, maybe someone else can chime in. I just put 2001 kx125's on my 2000 KDX, have not ridden it yet though.

Pre 95 swaps are the same except that the stock E series brake caliper will not bolt to the KX forks. You'll need to source a KX or H series KDX brake caliper. Everything else should be exactly the same as a H series KX swap.

Which year did the Kx 125 forks change from 43 to 46 mm.Read an interesting thread where the 94 clamps where machined out to accept the 94 KX125 forks the same clamps as I have on mine.Interestingly when I replaced the headstock bearings one of the clamps had KX500 cast onto it.Threre appears to be plenty of material in the clamps to accept machining so this might be a easier way to go.Could some one please measure their forks and let me know the size where the clamps fit on the 43 and 46mm forks?

Pete - Clamps are generally the lowest cost part of the swap. Its worth having the proper clamps that were designed for the forks. IHMO and all that.

Even if you had the machinery to do it, I wouldn't, especially with the single lower clamp bolt arrangement of the KDX USD fork lower triple clamps (KDX200 or KDX250).

I have a different front wheel as well from m0rie.And my caliper has different spacings between the bolt mountings. My disc is held on with four bolts same as the KDX250.Must be because of the usd 94 forks. My friend has the same setup on his 91 250sr except his forks are 43mm and mine the puny 41mm with comp only adjustment.Ive found some 94 forks and clamps just waiting for the all important price!!
