Not a huge Queen fan here...but I like them. I reallly like Brian Mays guitar work. I also find it interesting that him and his dad made his guitar out of an old dresser.

Julius, you may enjoy Gary Moore if you like your guitar work - Parisian walkways, Friday on my mind, still got the blues - some great stuff.

I'll check Moore out. Moist Boys, too.

I discovered the Heads back in '79 or '80, when More Songs About Bulidings and Food was released. I bought all their stuff - until Byrne went off on his Latin tangent.

I met Byrne last year at Birmingham's City Stages festival. Really nice guy. He declined his limo, and actually rode a bicycle from his hotel to the festival. Blows my mind how ordinary he is.

I once met the back-up drummer for Alice in Chains in Reno. Or at least that's who he said he was!!! :D LOL! I ended up getting into a debate with one of his friends about the drum skills of Rick Allen of Def Leppard (I'm a huge fan). I just remember his friend was really making me mad because he was so disrespectful of Rick Allen. I said CYA so I didn't get to ask the Alice backup guy many questions about the band.

"When you saw the name for this topic who's mind was down in the gutter? Mine was "
yeah me too heh now if I only get my mind out of it!

as for the music depends on my mood if I am in a mellow mood some classical or easy jazz sets it off nice,if I am in a take no prisoners mood Ted Nugent certainly gets my blood pumpin and my viens popping out.
If Iam in a sarcastic mood and want to annoy the people around me I will sing along with my Frank Zappa or Primus cd.s . If I am feeling pshychotic Alanis Morrisette, nuerotic Pink Floyd. Most of the time I tend to go along with bands like Creed , Pearl Jam , Heart or most any 70's early 80's southern rock.

Seems to me that in all this talk about guitarists. The one that i think Is probably one of the top ten of all time is Rush`s Alex Lifeson. Just put in 2112 and I think you`ll see why.

I agree with you, Alex is probably the most under rated guitarist out there.

But speaking of guitarist, ever heard of Alan Holdsworth, John Petrucci or guys like these? They blow me away.

That's what I said Alex is under-rated. It takes one heck of a guitarist to keep up with those guys and he does a fine job. He does have a style of his own though.

I can dig Rush sometimes...but I really hate Geddys bass tone...if you wanna talk bassists, Victor Wooten (ala Bela Fleck and the Flecktones) is the man!
I saw someone mention the Black Crowes up there...killer band!

What Okie...you don't think Jimmy is under-rated? :) (He would be hard-pressed to be over-rated)

One of the best Bass players that i have ever seen live is Paz Buchanon from A Perfect Circle, SHe can get some trippy sounds out of her bass.. I hear Les Claypool is good too, but have never seen Primus in concert.. THe best guitarist i've ever heard is Randy Rhoades..

Bocelli? I already have all of his cds. I have a very extensive collection of classical and opera. I play violin and I like to challenge myself every now and then.

I'm not limited to just the hard stuff. For the music I listen to on a regular basis it's the one, but I will mix it up half of the time. When I go on long road trips I'll take a LOT of rock/metal, a few country cds, Sarah Brightman and Bocelli (opera for those of you who don't know) U2, Prodigy, Paul Oakenfold, Madonna, Prince, Peter Gabriel, Sting, The Righteous Brothers, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Cream and Eric Clapton, Marvin Gaye... I could continue if you want me to. :)

"Jerry was a race car driver.
He drove so Galdang fast.
Never did win no checkered flag
But he never did come in last.

Jerry was a race car driver
He'd say "El Sob #1"
With a Bocephus sticker on his four-four-two
He'd light'em up just for fun.

Jerry was a race car driver
Twenty-two years old
One to many cold beers one night
Wrapped his car around a telephone pole...

(Sorry, couldn't resist:D)

I agree Lifeson is one of the best...amazing actually.
Peart also sythesized his drum kit and did a guitar lick on 'em, another pretty amazing musician.

Les Claypool is amazing on the bass guitar. Check out his cover of Nativity in Black, Ozzy does the vocals with Les on the bass. Great song.
