To bad I got to go to the district 20 meeting. My mom and dad live about 5 miles from there in Baker FL. It is also a long drive from texas. Rode there this summer and it is a pretty cool trail. Hope they got all the bridges repaired
I'm going to be there, I'll get there sat. and camp. Whats the low down
(any info) on this race I've never been there and would like to know what to expect. I'm going to ride in the B VET and will be easy to spot I've got a
old 89 KX and a white chevy van and grey trailer.
This is the way I remember the course form the last 2 years I've gone.
They may have changed something.
The start is on a TT track which is a hard pack sandy/clay. You go around that and then head onto their vintage MX track which is pretty much loose sand. After a loop there you head into the woods which is nice black loamy soil with patches of sand here and there. You've got a few bridges to cross and a couple of road crossings to push your bike across. After the last road crossing you cross the swamp and head up a possibly muddy hillclimb to get back on the TT track and start over. I think it's only 5 or 6 mi. per loop; hence the reason for having a AM race and a PM race. Which is good cause if you qualify for more than one class you can ride both races. I think I'm going to ride the Super Senior class in the morning and then Vet B in the afternoon.
I'll be on a blue GG w/o graphics in a Silver Dodge truck.
See ya there.
Mark, you can't ride in the B vet class, thats my class! how did the
Meridian ride go? I was going to come ride with ya'll but opted to ride
closer to the house.
The Meridian ride went great. The trails were in good shape; perfect weather and no dust. Lemming, Timr, and myself showed up and worked out the membership details and rode all day. I haven't ridden in sand for awhile so it was good to get some practice for this weekend.
Meridian was a lot of FUN!!:) You missed a good ride. We want to ride Meridian again with a large group of people. Hopefully we can hook up there and ride early sometime next year.
It was nice on the coast too. I'll be at the fl. course around noon sat. what
time are ya'll getting there? I've never been in a race with road Xings so
i dont know about that and I hate sand to boot, man this is going to be fun.
I'll be there on my Husky. Can't decide if i will go Saturday or early sunday. The course is fun. You can hit the dirt oval and let it HANG OUT! Only problem with the program is the two race format. C class riders get a shorter race in the morning. Last year I rode B Vet. They took a vote before the race and the other B Vet riders chose to race the short program! 3 laps and it was over. My odometer showed about 18 miles. Thats a long way to travel for such a short race.:scream:
Can this race be rained out if not it's looking like a mud run from here. Brings
back memories of Wiggens, the memories are so vivid i've got arm pump now. :scream:
Are you talking about the Wiggens Race a couple of years ago when it rained right up until the race started? My cracked ribs still hurt from that one.
I hope they don't cancel; I'm preparing for mud and looking foward to it.
The sand mx track will be nice; the rest of the course will be interesting.
I should roll in about 9:00 Sunday AM in time for the parade lap.
Hey,
Sorry to butt in guys. I don't race, just ride for fun, but I'm always looking for new places to ride. Is this area near Baker a place you can ride anytime? Any information would be great. Thanks in advance.
It now sounds like this system want make it to FL. so I'll just have to drive
through it. Mark, Yea thats the one my bro in law pulled his ham sting and
I did ok but they didnt stop me for the shortened race so i went the hole 4 laps. on time I crashed right in front of everyone and took off the wrong way on the course, It makes for good memorys though.
Hey,
We did get some rain last night, Thursday night/Friday morning. It doesn't appear that we got too much rain, but you never know. Sometimes it will rain hard in one part of town, and not in another.
About the area that the race is being held. Please find out what kind of property it is, and if it could be ridden recreationally. I'm not too far away and would like to check it out. Thanks again.
snaggleXR4,
All I know is that it's an off-road park and it's private property. They probably have days where you pay to come in and ride.
If you go to the flier link posted above you can get the phone # to the club that is putting on the event. They can probably give you some info. Or, come to the race Sunday and check the place out and get some info from the owners.
I just wanted to let yall know I heard after the HS it will be open to ride on weekends for a small fee. They are wanting to start having motocross races on their now irrigated track. The trails right now would be pretty bad after a rain. The NF/SA club will continue to fix the trails aver the next couple of months and try to maintain them for a place to ride. I think you can even camp there too.. The track is set up for vintage so nothing to bad so its a great place to take the kids to ride while you hit the trails. The trails are pretty tight and would be tough for most beginner riders.
