I removed the air filter screen in hopes that it will improve kick starting. I know from past magazine articles that it only improved throttle response. After removal of the screen I turned the bike on in and the bike seemed to be louder - from the engine to the exhaust? I have not taken to track yet. Just came back from track and changed the oil and removed the screen and put on a clean filter.
1. Curious as to why?
2. Will this cause a problem on a fuel injected bike?
There is alot of sound through the intake of a running engine. That screen acts a sound dampner of sorts.
It shouldn't make much of a difference to the fuel curve as it doesn't really restrict air flow. I'm not sure you'll see a benefit though. Make sure to let us know what it does.
We have had this debate before. I do know 1 persons air filter/airbox caught fire, due to bad valves, but, the screen may have stopped the fire! The dyno says no hp difference, BUT, does it show off idle throttle response. I know seat of pants can be misleading, BUT? And you have a cheater breather that compensates automatically for jetting changes! ENVIOUS.COM!
