just wanting to know if i put a tuned pipe on a pw80 will it give it a powerband? it currently has no kind of powerband and a real skinny almost four stroke looking pipe, but i know fmf makes a pipe for it, it is the right size for my son but he is more skilled than what the bike is currently capable of! i need to get him used to a powerband before he gets big enough for a 85 and it just gets dumped on him and he has to learn to use a clutch at the same time. thanks

a guess

I've never seen or done it to a pw80, but my guess would be that a real pipe & carb would really wake up the powerband. I saw a guy that built a pw50 racer for his son and it screamed like the cobra 50's. It had taller rear suspension, pipe, carb, and other minor touches here & there.

One thing, make sure the washer is out of the pipe! They come stock with a washer in the pipe that absolutely kills them, with the spacer out they seem to have a bit of a "powerband". Also I put a pod filter on my sisters PW80 and it seemed to wake it up a fair amount also.
