I have a 1991 Suzuki RMX250 that I am rebuilding for a friend.

After the new topend, reeds, etc. the bike would not start.

I went through everything I could think of.

I found that there was no spark,  the bike sparked fine before the rebuild.

I took off the flywheel/stator cover, and to my suprise it was full of gas.  I assume this was from the gas tank leaking and the lack of a real gasket.

I cleaned it off with carb cleaner and compressed air and it still won't spark.  All of the connections are good that I can tell and I have a fresh plug, still no spark.  What else should I try?

I'm 95% sure that the gas came from the gas tank right above it leaking and the lack of a proper gasket letting it through.

How would I go about checking the coil?

whatever you do be careful, an electrical circuit with a problem and it is covered in gas spells disaster, LOL!:)

Don't worry I have it all cleaned off. I have witnessed a CT50 go up in flames, and it wasn't pretty.

I still can't figure this thing out. It sparked and ran find before the topend rebuild. (And I assume the gas under the cover.)
