Hi i was wondering if my kx125 will make it at glamis. I have a 135 big bore kit and a 6 paddle tire. Will the sand strain out my motor? Any tips and answers will help me. Thank :bang:
Just keep the jetting rich and you'll be fine. You'll be squeezing all the HP you can out of it. Bring a good sand tire to swap to if you find the paddle to much of a strain to on it. It deep sand you always need richer jetting than you think.
thanks you guys. i mean i am only 100 pounds and i don't think i will blow the motor. my jettings are set to be a little rich so i think i should be good
Make sure your air filter is greased up and sealed tight, and check it once in a while to see if its caked with sand. Unless you have a pro seal set up, it can pull sand past the grease. Don't suppose you are sporting fluidyne/oversize radiators? Big bores really like big radiators.
You better believe it! Use a chain lube that dries and does not stay tacky, no exposed grease on the axles, pivots and steering stem. I much rather prefer wet sand. Glamis, good luck. Not so much eating your modded 125, as any bike. The guys who never service their bikes are better off! But, it will sure weed out the ones with tired motors and clutches! Check your plug and make sure you keep the main fat/rich. Have you checked the plug temperature? I would keep that cold also.
i forgot to say that if a few weeks, this will be my first time at the dunes on my dirtbike so i guess this will be a learning expierience then. Do you guys think i should buy a new top end after glamis because i will be there for 4 days.
If you put a fresh top end now, you will be doing it again after Glamis. You have a 10 to 15 hour top end? There is another thread running with spanky's jetting guide, or check out Eric Gore's. There is a lot of good information, and pics, on the drag racing sites also. Personally thinking, going out wfo for 4 days in the sand, on a questionable hour top end 125, you will be pushing it back, a good workout, and learning experience though?
