If you didn't install them right, you would have broken the ends off of the rings from trying to force them together tight enough to get the cylinder on.Originally posted by Chief
When I put my new piston & rings in about 5 weeks ago (wiseco) I followed the directions that came w/ the kit. It made no mention of upside or downside, but now that you mention it, I remember seeing how the rings are notched . I don't think I payed much attention to which way I put them in although The cylinder went on quite smoothly. I can't seem to get the bike to stop pinging, especially at low throttle. Could this be the problem? Maybe mine are notched the same way at both ends and it varies from model to model.
