Try a Vortex CDI unit, they have a lot of experience dealing with Yamaha bikes. These are used on Yamaha UK bikes run by Steve Dixon.

The Wolf CDI for the Yamaha works really good, they are used by Factory KTM, Kawasaki, and all the top pro riders in the world GP curciut,.

Factory Yamaha riders in Europe also use them on there bikes, the man that does all the R&D for the units has a factory contract with Yamaha to develop there team bikes so I doubt very much that you are going to get a bad thing.

There is no other aftermarket igntion company in the world that is fitted on full factory race team bikes other than the Wolf units.

Must be good.

I recently bought an FMF unit for my CR250, which made a bigger difference than I expected. From what I understand, the FMF ignitions are re-badged Wolf units. FMF is discontinuing them, so the price has been reduced from $400 to $99. It might be worth taking a look to see if they have one that will fit your bike.
