I'm unsure now. I went to the yamaha website and for the yz426 it says it has a "5-speed w/multi-plate wet clutch" transmission while the wr426 has a "Wide-ratio, 5-speed w/multi-plate wet clutch" tranmission. The primary reduction ratios are the same if anyone knows what that means, but the secondary reduction ratios are different because of the different sprocket sizes.

Without getting technical, primary reduction refers to the gears on the crankshaft and the clutch hub. Secondary reduction refers to gears in the transmission.
