How much weight should I shave off of the flywheel to make the bike snappier without going so far that it becomes a stalling problem or hard for a novice to comfortably ride?
'97 model, soon to be a 280.
Wait until you are done with the modifications to the engine before shaving the flywheel. Adding the extra displacement will make a noticable difference. A Uni-Filter with free flow cage and the usual airbox mods plus a good exhaust (Thunder Alley) might make you happy with the weight you have. My 284 flywheel is stock and I have PLENTY of snap.
