Yamaha yz 250's

What year bikes are the same in the YZ 250's? I know that the 1999 saw several changes but, not sure what they are. Is there other year model's that would be the same as the 1999 as far as spare parts and service manuals??? Also where can I get an oversize tank for woods ridding???

I think 96-01 is the generation for your bike, but the YZ guys will know for sure.

If you don't have any time pressure on the tank, I'd keep an eye out on e.b.a.y for a used one. You can save a lot of money that way.

You might want to watch on e.b.a.y for a service manual as well. Sometimes there are even manuals on CD - I think there's one there right now on CD that would work for your bike.

Your stock tank is probably a little more than 2 gallons. From what I've seen, most of the oversize tanks are 3.0-3.5 gallons +/-. Try a search on e.b.a.y for "yz 250 tank"

You'll get a lot of regular tanks, but you never know when an oversized one will show up. Doesn't look like there's one on there right now. They appear for my bike about once a month it seems like.

Yz 250 oversize fuel tank

I have been trying to find an oversize tank for my 99 yz 250. I found one for a WR 250 that holds 3.2 gallons. Does anyone know how much a standard 99 Yz 250 holds??? Also do you think that the Wr 250 tank will fit?? Thanks

I just saw a reply that Robwbright has given me earlier on the size of my tank. Still need to know about the Wr 250 tank Will it fit?

If it did, you DONT want the wr tank. These held as much fuel as the EXXon Valdez and were about as comfortable to ride with. A very piss-poor tank design. The Clarke tank is where its at for the older yz's. Comfortable and well made. I believe there are two models. A 2.1 and a 3,9.
