yaouch!!! that's hot hot hot

At my last race, after about a 12-15 minute moto, I noticed that my rear shock canister was hot. Not just warm but hot enough that I instinctively pulled my finger away and said something like "what in the :eek: ". Is this a sign that my suspension settings are outa wack or is something seriously wrong? Or is this normal? The front forks were warm, but not nearly as much as the rear.
