Hi,

I got my bike 2 month ago and I've riddin it several times.
lately, I've started to feel some problem with my bike.
It feels that 1st and 2ed grears aren't strong/reactive
enough like they were use to be before.
The clutch works when I release it one first gear, but sometimes, especially going up hills (not too steep) it feels like the engine is working hard (in 1st and 2end gear) and the bike doesn't really "kick" anymore.
Is it a problem with the clutch?
Could it be the gear?
If clutch,
Which clutch should I get? an Yamaha OEM is good?
or should I get: - Barnett - Dirt Digger Carbon Fiber Clutch Kit
or
Barnett - Dirt Digger Kevlar Clutch Kit
or
is EBC (DRC Series Clutch Kit) better ?
Thanks

You need to do a compression check to be sure its not in the motor.

That said though, the easiest way to test a clutch is to get it on somewhere it will definatly hook up. Put it in a higher gear ( kind of lug the motor ) and then WOT it. If the RPMs build and the speed doesnt, your clutch is slipping.

Or pull the clutch cover and pressure plate/springs, measure the plates. Thats actually pretty quick/easy too so ...

Thanks. I will check it.
If it's the clutch, any recommendations?
Should I stay with the OEM or get a diff. one (e.g Barnnet, EBC, Hinson)?

Thanks again

Honestly, if your not racing, its hard to beat a stock clutch. Others may grab harder, but at the cost of faster clutch basket wear. To me its just not worth it inless your basket is shot too. In which case I would replace it with a Hinson, and go all out with stiffer springs and "better" plates. I really couldnt tell you who makes a better clutch, Ive never had them side by side. Ive always used stock plates and like Hinson and QuadBoss (Not applicable on bikes anyways though) baskets.
