YZ250 Top speed? (2002)

Has anyone clocked their top speed on a YZ250 with stock gearing?

What about with other gearing combo's?

Rob, what gearing do you like for your type of riding.. I think we do pretty much the same type of riding.

with stock gearing it looks like about 77- 78 mph

I gear mine down 1 tooth on the rear, add a tooth. 50 to 51. I like the power down low and it closes up the spacing a bit. As far as top speed goes, it probably tops out in the low 70's. I did put the E Line coil on it and tried it out this weekend. Smoothed out the power a bit and made it more manageable. Im going to install a Moto Tasinari reed cage this weekend, Ill let you know how it works. Rob

77mph?! THats insane...are you sure it can really go that fast? I thought most 2 stokes topped out around 55mph?

you did say 250 didnt you? I have clocked my old xr 200 at 59 mph topped out and my cr 250 blow past it at 59 liek its standing still. I have out run a 400ex too on a strait away, i think he was gaining slowly, but after 3/4 mile we ran outta road.
