1988 yamaha yz80 cdi help

can you by pass the cdi unit on a 1988 yz 80 if so can you please tell me how

No, but you can use the values in your owners manual and check with a ohm meter if the cdi is still within specs.

ok got the cdi unit and now it gets fire but wont start was told to un hook the exaust and try and it cought on fire a little but didnt crank over please help if you know what the problem is

dont know who told you to try it without the exhaust but i think it would be pretty hard to get a good running bike to start without it (2 stroke). id go for the compression check and make sure the carb is in good working order, and dont forget a good plug
