If you have exactly 1 gallon 20:1, including the oil, you would have 6.09 ounces of oil and 121.91 ounces of gas, so you would put another 121.91 ounces of gas in to make it 40:1.
If you do like most and get one gallon of gas and then add the oil to make your 20:1 solution, you would actually be starting with 128 ounces of gas, plus 6.4 ounces of oil and would need to add one gallon of gas to make it 40:1.
