factory plating

Hi, I have a 1997 yz250, I was speeking to a guy that lives near me that does cylinder work. My barrel nikasil has worn through and i need to get it fixed. He said he can plate it. He said its similar to factory Plating. Does this sound ok. Is factory plating good.

What kind of plating is he putting on it?

he calls it aurum plating

I looked it up on google and all i could find were places that did it.

Ask him who he has done it for in the past and talk to them if they are pleased with the guy's work. I'm not familar with aurum plating.

niether am I, im taking it to him tomorrow. I will see what work he has done. It comes with a 3month warranty. So, im not sure.
