Fustrated 200

Yup, I'm fustrated.
Problem - my project 89 KDX 200
Actual problem - Bike wil idle fine, but from idle to about half open it spluters, farts and sounds like it is running way to rich. From there on it runs like a bat out of hell (that DOMA pipe works well).

I spent an entire afternoon playing with jets - no luck. With std. jets
it starts to hunt and is running to lean at idle. Flat out is OK. Even with it too lean at idle, it still spluters on take off and then comes right after half open.

Jets 48 and 158
The choke is closing fine
Slide is brand new
Needle position is in the center
Oill Ipone 38:1
Reeds look OK

How is your spark plug? Tried a new hotter plug? Plugged air filter. Have you cleaned the jets..in particular, the low speed jet? I hope this gives you some help.

Just a long shot.
How is your compression?
I know the feeling thats why I gave up on my 89 and did a total ground up restore.
I was sick of chasing my tail.

Brand new slide? Seems I read recently of a problem someone had when they used the WRONG slide in their bike. The thing FIT ok..but there was a difference in the cutaway-to-jetscreen 'fit' or somesuch.

Do you have the old slide? I'd sure give that a go.

my 94 had that problem when i got it but all i had to change to a ngk br8es instead of a ngk b9es bike works great now
