thanks again for the help guys but the counter shaft isnt whats leaking, its the shifter, not the sprocket, and rob, i noticed you have a 144 on your rm and was wondering, does that help with the bottom end alot or more mid or top?

Oh - sorry about the misunderstanding on the countershaft - I guess I didn't read it that close. . .I think it was late when I wrote that.

I had "mo betta everywhere" porting.

Picture a 20% increase in power across the board. You still will not have 4 stroke low end by any means, but it does help. However, relative to the whole powerband, it really didn't change the spread at all - it just made it much stronger - although it does rev better than stock. I'm basically a gear higher everywhere - even with going a tooth up on the countershaft sprocket.

Below is the link to my first ride report - I can say that I'm just as pleased now as I was then - if not more.

Here's more info about the 144s:

I sent my whole motor because case mods were needed on the RM's to make room for the piston.

Eric has closed up shop for new work until fall because of sickness in the family and moving to a new location.

I can't speak for him, but if you call him, you might be able to buy a cylinder from him already ported and bored to 144. What year is you YZ? At time of posting the page below, he had a 1999 cylinder 144 for $175.00, 2000 model 144 for $275.00 and 01-04 models for $350.00. He also had new in box stock cylinders for $225.00. Check here:

If you go that route on the 144, then you would need to have someone modify the head for the larger piston and for desired compression and modify the cases (although you could probably do the case mods yourself - Eric has told people on here how to do it).
