How much are 02-03 CR250 motors worth?

I'm thinking about buying a 02-03 CR250 for a CR500 conversion - what would the CR250 engine sell for $900-1200??

check out service honda , they sell brand new cr250 motors left over from their cr500 conversions . is it really worth the trouble to mickey mouse one together on your own ? why not just buy a cr500af from service honda , they seam to have it all figured out .

I paid $5400 for mine a year ago, came with a bunch of free stuff too, frame, swingarm, wheels/tires, plastic, seat, bars, etc., the list goes on! ;)

For real, if you sold a CR250 motor for $1200 with the CDI, ignition, servo motor, (everything but the carb and the radiators) I think it would be a good buy, assuming the motor is in good condition.

On service honda's website they are selling complete 02 CR250 for $1599. For some reason that is a lot cheaper than I thought. I wonder what that includes (Carb, electronics, etc.)

Hmmm,
Maybe a bored & stroked cr280 would be better than a cr500af?
