Quick question, CR80 pipe / silicone junction

Hey all,

Just pulled my sons CR80 pipe off and I see the plastic type 'ring' around the exhaust flange. Do I discard that and just fill that area with the Black Silicone?

Before I bought a billet flange, I used the high temp orange RTV. It actually worked pretty well. I would leave the "gasket/ring" in and goop it up. Once the pipe was on and mounted I would seal it again around the pipe. I bought a flange from this place and it works real good.
