01' CR 250 Front sprocket bolt

I'm fixing to change my front sprocket for the first time. I don't want to do something stupid like snap it off, so I'm going to ask. To remove the bolt holding the sprocket, do you turn it clockwise (right) or counterclockwise (left)?

I know it sounds petty, but I just bought the bike used, haven't bought a shop manual yet, and don't want to miss out on the ride this weekend because of a broken bolt.

Should be counterclockwise, and your not gonna snap it. Step on rear brake and bust it loose.
