01 KX 250 - anything special?

I went and looked at an 01 KX 250 today and the owner told me that the 01's were apparently the fastest bike ever produced and they had to tone them down in 02. Any truth to this?

kx is a motocross bike they would have no reason to tone it down.

He said they had to tone down the computer to it was less aggressive, sounded like BS to me too but I was just checking.

I have an 02 KX250 that i just got, I really like it. So if its clean i would go for it anyway

on the track you want it to be as agressive as it can be. they only tone down trail bikes.

I have ridden a 99, 01 and 04 bikes. By far the 04 has a better and longer power band.

06-07 are the best years with the twinchambers on them.

Yeah I have an 07 kx 250 and it's fouling plugs however it still smokes all other 250's it's come up against.

Great bike none the less. In a flat out drag race it would probably be slower than a new bike for a lot of reasons

Older the bike has older parts. The new bikes changes were only changed because it was better.

True but thinking of the bike as a whole it doesnt get worse unless its made in china.
