01 yz250

my older brother has a street bike her wants to get rid of. someone offered him a trade for an 01 yz 250. how were those bikes for that year? any major problems, complaints. any info would be great. im a honda guy i have never owned a yamaha. he has ridden before hes comfortable of two wheels. im just curious how those bikes were back then. again thanks for any help and info.

01 YZ250 is an excellent running bike. He will not be disapointed.

For whats its worth I have an 02 and its a great bike!!

I liked my 01yz250. I did have the suspension resprung and revalved. The kick starter is short causing it to be a little hard to start. Overall, good bike. I raised the forks and set the race sag a little on the stiff side and it helped the corning. The high speed compression will also affect the cornering by keeping the rear up in corners or letting it droop.

i have one. The motor is strong, love everyhting about the bike. I did eat a set of shifting forks a season ago. I heard some rumblings that that may occur on the 01's. other then that I dig it.
