02' yz250f oil leak

I just bought this bike and there was no oil leak. I tried several times trying to start this thing not knowing there was a decompression lever. Could this be the cause of the oil leak? Suggestions would be helpful?

step back G Unit. Where is the oil leak coming from?

It seems to be coming from underneath the crankcase side. Maybe a seal. Sorry but Im a novice when it comes to this.

I would clean it off very well and try to pinpoint the source. Starting without using the decomp lever whouldn't cause an oil leak. A broken kickstarter and a sore foot, maybe.

Did you ever get it started? If you get stuck, there is an excellent mechanic not too far from you in Woodstock.

I can get it started. I even got it started without the decompression lever. Do you think it could be a seal. It seemed to leak more oil in the cold weather. Who is the mechanic. THanks for the info and help.

which crankcase side? clutch side (your right foot), ignition side (your left foot).

Right side.

clean it off - probably just the clutch gasket leaking. did you replace the clutch? or maybe prior owner? could just be a bad gasket.

There are two black oil lines on the side of the engine cases at the bottom.

They bolt into the cases.

Check to see if the oil is leaking there.
